Are you better off with a fixed price for your divorce case?

March 9, 2017 13:34 Comments Off on Are you better off with a fixed price for your divorce case? admin

Studies show that lack of predictability is one of the things that make us as human beings most uncomfortable. We see this is in all aspects of life. As a matter of fact, I have told our children that when they complain “ze lo fir” (that’s not fear) what they are really complaining about is that two similar situations are not treated equally and that therefore the response was not predictable.

As an attorney, what I have found is that people like predictability in their legal transactions. One of the first =questions that new clients ask is “how much is this going to cost me?” Slowly, we have been moving our office towards a global or modified global fee basis for our divorce work – which I always felt was fairer both to our clients and to us. However, I never realized how much more fair it was until I saw what an opposing attorney did to his client at a hearing last week.
