Although every couple getting divorced knows that the reasons for divorce are varied, most people don’t realize that from a legal perspective all divorces boil down to one thing: a method for legally separating a couple which had been seen in the eyes of the law for many purposes as a joint unit. Yes – I know it sounds harsh – but from a legal perspective that is what happens during divorce. As such, although the “issues” that the couple has are many and varied, from a legal perspective there are just a few categories of issues that have to be resolved – whether via litigation or a divorce agreement.
